Mosquitoes!! And lots of them!! After we got camp setup we went for a walk over to the beach area. And we were attacked!! Of course, we didn't think to put on bug spray at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, so we got chased all the way back to the camper by swarms of mosquitoes! Lesson learned. We did see this doe on the path to the lake. Of course we didn't have a camera with, but I got a couple of pictures with my cell phone camera.

It's warn, scratch that, hot, up here today. Temp is 81 and partly cloudy. Warn enough to turn on the air conditioner for some inside comfort.

Since all the meat in the fridge is still frozen, we used that as an excuse to go into town and have dinner. We ate at the Ely Steakhouse where we thought the walleye dinner would have to be scrumptious. Wrong! Should have gone with the rib eye steak. Luckily we were spitting the one walleye dinner. Even then, Tom only ate half of his fillet. (And his beer was warm, too.)

Woke up to the sound of rain on the roof. Just a short shower, but a preview of the day ahead. Weather forecast is for rain and storms today. Good day to do some reading and relaxing.

Since the weather was not cooperating, we drove into Ely and checked out the local shops and made a stop at the NAPA store for some connector cleaner. The plug on the camper and the receptacle on the truck are getting a little tarnished and corroded and need some cleaning. We had lunch at the corner bar/restaurant and then headed back to camp.

Back at camp we grilled steaks for dinner and watched some TV as the rain continued.

Rain, rain, go away, come again some other day!

More rain today. And even more rain. Not even a little clearing so that we can try and put the kayaks in the water or head to the fishing dock. At least we have two TV channels to watch! Would be nice to have satellite TV on days like this. Maybe next year. (Would be even nicer to have internet access on days like this, but that's a few years away.)

Of course the sun is shining this morning as we prepare to break camp. We'll be back here in July, so we're hoping to make up for this trip then.
