Rock Creek State Park, Kellogg, Iowa - Friday, September 12 to Sunday, September 14, 2008

We are in Kellogg, Iowa for the weekend. We're here so that Tom can visit Prairie City. His Dad was born there and it's where his great-grandparents lived.

We toured both of the cemeteries and found some gravestones. Then, while driving through the town, we believe we found the family farm house.

From there we took a drive over to the Prairie Learning Center. It's a huge prairie restoration project that is part of the National Wildlife Refuge system. It was overcast so the pictures do not do justice to the color or the scope of the refuge. However, we did see one of the free range buffalo that the have on the refuge. It was way, way off in the distance so it's a little fuzzy as Tom was zoomed out to the max to get this picture.
From there we drove into Des Moines to check out the RV show that was going on at the convention center. Compared to the Minneapolis version, it wasn't much, but it was fun to look at the campers. Once again we are soooooooooo happy with the rig that we have. Not only for the price we paid, but also for the décor and the features. We have yet to find anything that comes close. So we looked at the class A motor homes and planned for the day (5 to 7 years from now) that we hit the road full time.
